    Come Back Soon

Here I sit in total darkness
Just me with the sounds of moving traffic
    passing cars and transport trucks

Today is one of those days
    Even I have those days
    No thoughts to think of
total stillness here in the dark

    Come back soon

    Life - The Ego Mind

Last night I got thinking about the meaning of life. Many thoughts ran through my head, a lot of questions that started with why.

Why do some people grasp the idea of life while others dwell on the past or dream about the future? Why do some people focus their attention to the next best thing? Why do some people live life through a brick wall? Why are some people afraid to voice their opinion? Why do some people feel another persons needs exceed the needs of their own? Why do some people live in self-inflicted misery?

So many questions left unanswered in so many lives – People like you and me living life hanging onto a thread, anticipating what tomorrow will bring, dwelling over days past, or living in self-inflicted misery… Why I ask?

Eckhart Tolle, author of The Power Of Now speak about the ego mind, how to become present with one, to be, to accept was is, but many find it difficult to grasp the concept of what he speaks.

How does someone become aware of their ego mind - how does someone that has endured child abuse, abandonment, or neglect come to the realization of their ego mind if from childhood they lacked validation and positive reinforcement – validation and positive reinforcement that is a necessity for children, for their development?

The ego is 95% of your actions – The ego is everything you do –The more you fuel a negative ego, the bigger the ego becomes.

Self-inflicted misery – the greater one speaks about his or her misery and worthless life, the stronger the ego, believing that life is worthless. The more you put another person’s needs in front of your own, the great the belief and the feeling that you are insignificant. The more you allow yourself to be muted, the greater the belief that what you have to say is stupid and wrong.

How do any of these individuals learn about the ego mind, learn about what is holding them back? The answer can only be found deep in the soul, buried in the roots of who they believe they are. Who they believe they are based on what they’ve been told about who they are, based on what they have gone through and who they think they need to be because of their past.

    Life - A confusing journey?

What happened along your life journey? Are you confused? Do you feel disconnected from the person you feel exists within compared to the person you have become? What happened to the person you once were – the fun, loving, and happy child? A child filled with dreams - dreams of what could be. A child filed with confidence to conquer any challenge - challenges you felt were worth the pain; from taking your first step, to climbing your first tree, nothing seemed impossible.

Noise, suddenly and without warning engulfed your world. At first the noise was subtle and discreet, untraceable, but as you aged and settled into your life, a life you deem “normal”, the noise increased in volume and spread into different aspect of your life. As the noise spread throughout your life, it left a path that would later become the path that would lead you down a backward, downward spiral, the path you find yourself on today.

It started the day believed what others were telling you. Information passed through generations. Life lessons of what you SHOULD or SHOULDN’T do, how you SHOULD and SHOULDN’T feel. Lessons of how WRONG you are, and what is RIGHT because they know better. Lessons on how BOYS and GIRLS need to act and what they NEED to be when they grow in to adulthood, to become responsible, respectable adults in their communities.

It started the day you believed what another person told you of what you SHOULD be instead of becoming what your heart was telling you of what you already are. It started the day you doubted yourself – The day you put another persons needs in front of your own. The day you felt you had to be what you were not to make another person happy. The day you surrendered you’re freewill.

    False Belief

Last night I did something that I thought I could never do. Another false belief I held on to for a very long time. Last night I was a keynote speaker, speaking about entrepreneurship for the town of Richmond Hill, a suburb of Toronto.

Prior to last night, I did not believe I could introduce myself to a crowd nor give a little bio about myself. The facilitator was ecstatic that I was the keynote speaker. She felt I should enlighten the crowd by adding my recent guest appearance on the W Network in my introduction. I thought that was bragging, but the facilitator thought the crowd would be inspired and motivated to learn where I came from and where I am in my life now.

The false belief I carried for a very long time was that I could not open a seminar without the help of my partner because I speak fast. I’ve been known to speak fast, and have also been told to slow down. I am aware of this behavior that is caused by nervousness. With the help of my partner and her ability to speak to a crowd, I would adapt my energy and tempo to her tempo. It’s like having a drummer keep pace on a dragon boat, but last night, I was the drummer, I had to set my own pace.

My partner was called to a family emergency at the eleventh hour last night. That left me with all of 00:00 time to prepare for the other half of the seminar. I apologized to the crowd I let them know that my partner was called away to a family emergency, and that I would do my best not to stumble over her part. I did well overall - I screwed up a few statistics but the crowd was engaged and asked lots of questions, not sure they even noticed.

I did become slightly nerved at first when I stumbled over the first statistic. I broke a sweat, I caught myself wanting to race - Slow down batman, I whispered to myself, catch the comma, take a breather – only you know you made an error, they don’t. From that second on I reduced the tempo and moved forward with the presentation.

Even I, a Life Coach still to this day doubt my abilities. This was an automatic reflex, a learned behavior that I had not challenged until last night. If it were not for my business partner being called away, I would still be operating with a false belief today. The false belief was that I could not open nor close a seminar and as of last night I proved that false belief wrong

    Validation

Early Tuesday morning, just after five o’clock. People often ask me what I do with my time at this early hour, especially when I do not work for anybody but myself. I tell them I write, I think, and plan my day. At this early hour, the silence that hovers around me allows me to think clearly with no distractions, it feels as if I am meditating.

There is so much hurt, anger, and confusion in this world. People are confused about who they are, why they feel the way they do, angry with those around them for not meeting nor exceeding their expectations, emotions fueled by disappointment.

For those whom seek external validation to boost their ego and sense of self-worth, for the battered wife that believes she must stay with the man she married till death do us part, for the little girl that cries for help but cannot be heard – It is a confusing and disappointing life.

External validation only fuels your ego momentarily. External validation received from another person only boosts the ego for a few seconds. While the validation feels good for a moment, what is really happening is you are sending a message to your brain that says, “External Validation is what I need to feel validated,” so the mind, body and soul continue to seek external validation to fulfill your needs. Thus leading to constant disappointment.

The false belief married couples have – Till Death Do Us Part. When one partner is not open and honest and committed to the marriage, creating scenarios that threaten to destroy the marriage. Guilt takes over – I am old fashion and I must remain in the marriage because his needs are far more important than mine.

The little girl who cannot speak – pretending to be someone she is not for the fear of rejection. A veil masks her true identity, protecting the girl inside from hurt, from the pain - this is who I think I need to be – She will give me the strength and confidence to persevere - what they do not see will not hurt.

Life is confusing, but only as confusing as you wish to make it.

I received two “Superior Scribble” award yesterday. Thank you to Sue and So Grateful To Be a Mormon for the award. I am honored to have received the awards, but know I will not be participating per the rules.

    The Long Lost Search

Yesterday was a gorgeous autumn day in Toronto. It was sunny with clear blue skies, sixty degrees, and a spectacular day to spend in High Park.

Off the beaten path is a trail that takes you through High Park. The landscape in the park is very hilly with two deep north-south ravines extending the full north-south distance of the park. The eastern ravine starts at the northeast corner of the park, this part of the park is the forested area that is around a spring-fed pond. The ravine has a small stream winding south to the ponds.

The scenery in High Park at this time of the year is spectacular. Dare I say it’s better than Central Park?

The trail through the hilly landscape of High Park is only the beginning of your journey. Where the streams meet the pond the trail meets the pathway that runs into the garden area of the park. Engulfed by nature, not one sound rounds through your mind. A skyline dazzled by colour

Up a steep hill landscaped with a rock garden and fall flowers, extending from the top of the hill back down the hill, south west to the spring-fed pond. Just ahead are the remains of the season past hanging garden. The scene brought back memories of mountain villas celebrating with a feast with family and friends.

As you continue on with your journey through the park, just past the hanging garden at the bottom of the hill is a large maple leaf-shaped flowerbed, visible from the top of the hill. Your peripheral view standing at the top of the hill is dazzled by Mother Nature’s brilliance of colour. There is no escaping that moment as every sensor in your body surrenders to all that matters. Peace and calm runs through your body – total stillness.

And there it was, all of it, in its natural state living life with each passing season. All nature’s beauty every living, breathing, thing was just there in it’s form. You could hear the wind blowing through the trees, and the leafs ruffling together making a “shhshshsh” kind of sound.

Then came the question: Why do I feel so lost, does everybody know who he or she are? Answer: Yes, but only the ones who stopped looking for answers to come from the outside world. Only you have the answers to your questions - you are the only one that has the answers to what you are looking for. You must make time for self, enough time and away from your distractions to turn down the noise, and then ask yourself what you need to know. In time you will learn why you feel so lost.

    The Ego Mind

The Ego Mind – What is it, and why does it control our existence?

The Ego mind is at play in every aspect of one’s life. Often time people become defensive when they here the word, “EGO” – I don’t have an ego, they say. How could you imply I’m egotistical – I’m a nice person, I’m down to earth, I’m caring, I’m open and honest, and I give to everybody. I am not egotistical.

The Ego mind is more than a high sense of self. True, the word “Ego” is commonly used to describe ones sense of self-importance, experience, or materialism, but Ego, it is in everything we do and think. Ego is comprised of both body and soul.

The Ego is engrained in our psyche, Ego is who we are whether we are consciously or unconsciously aware, the Ego exists in every aspect of our everyday life from how we engage with others, the multiple roles we play, (mother, father, siblings, professional title, etc.) to what we become identified to, places, people, and things.

“I” the subject or object of self-consciousness; The Ego. The “I” or self of any person; I as thinking, feeling, and willing, distinguishing itself from the selves of others and objects.

    • I can’t believe I was treated that way
    • I am offended you would think that of me
    • I’m a father
    • I’m a mother
    • I’m a VP
    • Those are my belongings
    • That is my house
    • That is my car

How often do you catch yourself uttering the words, “Trust me” or “ Believe me”? Why should anybody trust and believe you? Doesn’t everybody have their own ability to think and experience life through their own eyes? Why is your trust or belief far more important than another person’s experience? And what happens when they don’t trust or believe you? Are you hurt, offended? Is your ego bruised because they didn’t trust or believe you?

What happens when the economy is on the brinks of a recession and you lose your job? You and thousands others are searching for a job. Those that are fortunate will settle for what they could find to make ends meet, but you – you have become identified to your last role, the role of a Vice President, but there is no Vice President roles available in the market. What do you do? Do you settle for a new role maybe a Director or Manager, or is that beneath you?

What happens when someone takes something away from you, a personal item, or maybe someone destroyed your vehicle, or broke into your home and stole your personal possessions that you are attached to. How do you feel? Do you become enraged, full of anger?

The Ego mind is everything you do, you could deny it, but the fact of the matter is your Ego could work against you if you have no sense of self, or it could work for you if you if you become aware of it.

The ego mind is very powerful – Life Coaching could be the key to unlocking your self-awareness.

Another Post For The Search Engines

A few weeks ago I lost my position for my keyword, "Life Coach Toronto," I was ranked #3 for the keyword. Life Coach Toronto is an excellent keyword that yields targeted traffic to my website with an average of 36 hits per month. Another keyword that I am playing with is, "Life Coaching", www.brunologreco.com is currently in position #206 for this keyword.

I have to tell you that I have learned a tremendous amount of information about pagerank and keyword position this past year. For those who remember, someone once told me that I was in knee deep with SEO and that I did not know what I was doing, and I should give up and stick to life coaching.

I love when people tell me I have no business doing something – I get a kick out of doing something that I know nothing about. Knowledge is power and when I have power I exceed and climb to new heights. Did I mention my consulting company offers SEO services to medium and large size businesses? In addition, I use my SEO skills to help clients that are also looking to launch their own business and require a website.

Last week I held position #298 for the keyword life coaching, today www.brunologreco.com is in position #208 for the same keyword. Not bad for a guy that knows nothing about SEO, or do I?

After losing my keyword position, I had to research what I thought were the potential problems. After a few days of research I discovered two major problems that contributed to the loss of my keywords: 1) I was linked to someone that has a low pagerank. 2) My domain name had less than one year remaining before it expired. Google does not like websites with less than one year before they expire.

After terminating the link to the website that has a low pagerank and renewing my domain name, my keyword reappeared on Google in exactly the same spot I last saw it before I lost my position, and that would be in position #3.

So now I need your help – I need to become an authority for the keyword: Life Coaching. Did I mention Life Coaching receives approximately 15,000 hits per month? That’s a huge jump from the 36 hits per month I see for life coach Toronto.

If you feel like helping my cause to secure a top position for the keyword "Life Coaching" – Copy and paste the following code to your website or blog:

    That's a wrap...

That’s a wrap... Excellent job everybody!

I had a great time being a life coach at the tapings of Help Us From Our House on Tuesday. Brian, the crew, and the cast were great to work with.

I feel very comfortable in front of cameras now, most of the times I don’t know the cameras are rolling except for the first few minutes while I worm-up.

During the taping, Brian, the director allowed me to do my life coaching with very little direction, unless we were filming a scene I had to reenact, then he gave me some direction. 98% of what came out of my mouth were my words, my ideas and my advice to the family - No script this time.

I’m meeting up with the family in a few weeks to see how they are doing and also to make a few needed changes. The family hit a sore spot – A thirteen year old is raising his younger siblings age 5 and 7, not to mention he is also responsible for most of the household chores. I spoke with the parents and told them that their son did not choose to have two younger siblings, and that he definitely did not choose to raise them either, it was their choice to have children so it’s their responsibility to raise them. I proceeded to ask the parents what they thought a thirteen year old should be doing, their answer: Go outside with his friends to play and have fun, school, and homework…

I learned a funny trick from the mother - How to bribe your rambunctious 5 year old first thing in the morning with sugar. “Sit down” she speaks in a soft tone, “If you sit still I will give you a lollypop.” The young little boy with the cutest grin on his face says, “okay,” as he reached for the lollypop. The cameras were not rolling, “You know, maybe giving your children lollypops first thing in the morning is not helping your cause, what do you think? I say to the mother as her son jumps up and down on the couch. Yeah, I think you are right, as she reaches over and takes the lollypop from her kid.

Oppps.. I should have saved that for the cameras I'm told - Sometimes I say things without really noticing who is or who isn't around.

Life Coaching is definitely fun, but Family coaching - Now that is what I call fun.

Lots of lessons gained from my guest appearance on Save Us From Our House.

    Today

I have a nine o’clock call time this morning. I have to be in Oshawa, Ontario by 8:30 am. That puts me right smack center of Toronto rush hour – This ought to be fun. I am leaving ample time so that I can arrive on time to meet with Bryan, the Director.

Unlike the last show I was on, I feel much more comfortable, I’m dressed like I would normally would when working with a client – jeans and a golf shirt – The last time I felt like a million bucks, but maybe it wasn’t who I am… Today I feel like the real me.

More to come when I return later this afternoon, but for now I’ll leave you with Ralph Marston:

    Today

Of all the days that have ever been and of all the days to come, today is the one you now have. Though it may not be perfect, it is here, it is now, and it is the one day that is available to you.

On this day you live in a world filled with beauty. Take the opportunity to see and appreciate some of that beauty.

On this day there are precious moments ready to be filled with joy and meaning. Live today's moments so as to add real and lasting value to your life and your world.

Spend some time focusing your thoughts on what's right with this day. Allow yourself to genuinely feel the goodness that is present right now.

Remind yourself of all that you have to be thankful for on this day. In the heart of your gratitude, you will touch today's limitless source of abundance.

Possibility, opportunity, value, goodness, love and fulfillment are all here and now on this day. Bring them to life today in your own special way.

    What Is My Life Purpose?

Do you know what your life purpose is? What motivates you to get up and out of bed each morning? Are you getting out of bed for the fear of what others will say, or maybe you fear being fired form your job.

In the absence of your life purpose, what does your day look like? Do you find yourself getting mixed up in another person’s affair? Are you placing high expectation on others to gain a sense of validation? Or are you trying to control everything in the world around you with the exception of your own world?

What does your life look like without a sense of purpose?

Human nature leads people to seek the validation they did not receive as a child in adulthood. If you were abandoned as a child and lacked the basic need of a child, nurturing, there is a good chance that you place high expectations on others for the fear that they will abandon you. The results of your expectations will unconsciously determine the outcome of that relationship.

What’s fascinating about the validation adult’s seek is that it is also a strong clue as to what a person’s true passion and purpose is in life. The quality you did not receive enough of as a child – abandonment, nurturing, love, validation, motivation, peace, guidance, etc., what you didn’t get enough of is what you have struggled to create for yourself with external validation your entire life.

Become aware of what you truly want in life – the answer, as I often say, is rooted deep in the core of your being. It is impossible for you to find what it is you are truly searching for unless you spend time, quality time with self - to listen to what you truly are searching for. When you could answer,“What am I looking for?" you will have discovered a major clue that will lead you to your life purpose.

Are You A Morning Person... Or a Night Owl?

Are you a morning person or a night owl?

I’m definitely a morning person. I do not need an alarm clock, or anything else to wake me up in the morning. My eyes are bright and wide open the second I get out of bed. As the season’s changes in Toronto, so does my sleeping pattern - the colder the weather, the earlier I rise.

I feel highly creative in the morning. Unlike the majority of the world, I find the early morning hours is when I’m most creative and productive. I’m able to think clearly, come up with great ideas, and solve problems.

Morning people make up 10% of the population. At the other end of the spectrum are night people. These are the individuals that become highly creative during the late hours of the night. They are creative; they solve problems and feel a lot more productive while everybody else sleeps. This group of individuals accounts for 10% of the population.

Both morning and night people only account for a total of 20% of the population, everybody else fits in somewhere between a morning person and a night person.

Schools, workplaces, and society do not take this known fact into account. Schools start at eight-thirty in the morning, most office position start between eight and nine, and unless you are working the graveyard shift, you’re sleeping during those hours, which could be when you are most creative.

If you are part of the 20%, either a morning person or a night person, consider changing your schedule to allow your creative juices to flow when they want to flow. Talk to your employer and request a change in your schedule to accommodate your natural creative and productive time slot.

    Good luck!

    Save Us From Our House

Toronto based General Purpose Pictures producers of the reality TV series, Save Us From Our House, is looking for a life coach to appear on their show.

Last week I was in New York City. I was on my way to client meeting on Thursday when I fell victim to my thoughts as I walked to the 86th and Lexington subway station. I started to think about the day I left my career to start my own company… The thought brought a smile to my face as I whispered, only one more year… They say it takes three years before you can enjoy the fruits of your labour. On October 5th It was exactly two years since I became an Entrepreneur.

I continued to walk to the subway station as I had my final thought before walking into the station, I looked up into the sky and said, “I am thankful for all I have received, I’m thankful for all that I have learned… but I really could use a break right about now.”

My meeting went very well. This was a corporate client. My business partner and I own a consulting company that provides Strategic Sourcing, Project Management and Requirements Gathering services to medium size companies. Based on my meeting, it looks promising that we will close a piece of business in the coming days.

Later that evening when I returned home I checked me email and I found this note: “Hello! I work for a television show shooting in Toronto called "Save Us From Our House." Currently we are working with a family who has trouble communicating with each other. Too much yelling and not enough listening. We are looking for someone to appear on the show to help them with this problem. If this is something you might be interested in I'd love to talk to you more about it.”

It took me all of one minute to respond to the email. I was so excited – another opportunity to do what I love doing on television. When I spoke to the executive producer on Friday, we chatted briefly about my techniques, she asked me if I had any on-camera experience, I said yes and told her I appeared on Style By Jury.

Just a few months ago I was writing about how I was afraid to be in front of a camera – I toyed with the idea of sending Breakfast Television a request to appear as a guest on the show. Today I’m writing about appearing on a reality TV show.

Do you think the Law Of Attraction has anything to do with this?

    Search Engine Optimization

    For The Search Engines

Not to long ago, www.brunologreco.com enjoyed position #3 for a few keywords such as life coach Toronto, family life coaching, Teen Coach Toronto, and success coach Toronto, to name a few. Early last week I noticed I was no longer in position #3 for any keyword.

The investigation – After days of searching and learning why I had lost my position for keywords on Google, I learned that somebody I authorized to use my link has a poor pagerank and as a result it was not helping my website. Unfortunately I had to terminate the link from my site to his site. Within 24hours of terminating the link I regained position #16 on Google for my keyword life coach Toronto. I’m still working on many other terms.

My life coach Toronto website did not rank for the keyword “life coach” nor “life coaching”, but since the incident last week, brunologreco.com now ranks for both “life coach” and “life coaching” – that is amazing for a new website to rank for those two keywords.

Search Engine Optimization is a pain in the ass if you ask me, but very much needed with thousands of new websites launched each day. As a matter of fact, Cisco Systems, the San Jose, California based company that makes a living selling plumbing for the Internet has predicted; Traffic on the world’s networks will increase (annually) 46 percent from 2007 to 2012, nearly doubling every two years. If this is not a good reason for websites to be optimized then I don’t know what is.

So this morning I decided to write a blog post about Search Engine Optimization to help others optimize their websites. A higher pagerank means more free organic traffic from the major search engines. Free organic Web traffic comes from unpaid listings, which is generated or increased by including your website in major search directories such as Yahoo!, DMOZ, Google, Inktomi, and guides such as the yellow pages or even restaurants guides and award sites.

If you are a newbie to the Internet world and are looking for some quick tips on Search Engine Optimization here are a few tricks that will definitely help your cause.

    Search Engine Optimization Tips:

    1. META TAGS – Often time I read that META TAGS are not that important anymore, but I beg to differ. I think they are a must because I have seen my website rank high with META TAGS and not even rank at all without them. Make sure you have META TAGS in each of your webpage’s. Make sure that your keyword(s) are strategically placed in your META TAGS.

    2. HTML Coding – Think of your website like an article. If you are writing an article for school, you want to be sure you are using proper headings – likewise for your website. Make sure your first heading is denoted with h1 tag, and any subsequent heading with h2 and h3 tags.

    3. Make use of the alt tag if you have lots of images on your website. Alt tags help the search engines give a description to your image. By adding keywords to the tag, it will increase your chances for higher ranking on the search engines.

    4. When writing text for your webpage – be sure to “sprinkle” your keywords throughout your webpage’s – but remember keyword density. Each search engine has their own keyword density algorithm, too little and you won’t rank, too high and its considered spam.

    5. And the best way to yield free organic traffic is to start a blog and link back to your website using your keyword, like I often do, Life Coach, Toronto native Bruno LoGreco.

And lastly, if you would like to help my cause to regain position #3 on Google, feel free to add the following link to your blog or website: Master Life Coach, Toronto native Bruno LoGreco

    What Really Matters To Me...

Yesterday I wrote a quick something about What Really Matters . Traisas , a fellow bloggers asked if I would blog about what really matters most to me. So here is your answer traisas:

My health, my happiness, and my freedom--that is what matters the most to me.

My health is very important. With a healthy lifestyle, which includes enough sleep, a balanced diet, and some form of exercise my chances of experiencing the blues are reduced. Don’t get me wrong, I experience the blues from time-to-time, but the frequency is once in a blue moon.

Far less blue days could only mean more happy days throughout my life, it also means I get to inspire and motivate that many more people. Who wants a sad, blue, life coach working with them anyhow?

I’m healthy, happy, and able to make my own choices: I have the freedom to speak, the freedom of expression, but most of all, I have freewill. Free from identification, free from judgment, and free to self-love unconditionally - with my weaknesses, my strengths, and even with my flaws.

In the absence of what matters most to me, I would not be able to help others achieve what matters most in their lives - to love another person unconditionally, to give with no expectation and to be who they truly need to be.

These are things I could not do without what matters the most to me.

    Ten Powerful Self-Coaching Tips

    By Bruno LoGreco

Are you living the life of creativity and happiness that you've always dreamed of, or are you allowing your fears or other outside factors to influence you?

Following the path that your heart's desires requires courage and might require a shift in attitude. There are several methods you can use to act as your own life coach and start working toward the life you dream of.

    Ideas for self-improvement

You don't need to change every aspect of your life at once in order to improve your attitude and outlook on life. Self-improvement can feel daunting if you try to change everything at once.

A good way to embark on your journey of self-coaching is to make one change and see what kind of impact it has upon your life. The following tips are designed to help you improve your life and become your own life coach. Try out one of the following tips at a time to positively impact your attitude and daily life.

    1. Find some ‘you' time. Everyone needs time alone to meditate and recharge. You may think you don't have extra time in your day. Start with 10-20 minutes to use for meditation or silent reflection.

    2. Ask yourself what you truly want in life. Are you living your life according to your true dreams and desires? You may be unaware of your desires that lie hidden beneath your surface needs and wants, so take the time to find out.

    3. Write everything down. Even if your thought seems silly, write it down! You may be surprised by the inspiration and ideas you can come up with.

    4. Journal daily, but with a twist. Instead of just writing about today, try writing about yesterday.

    5. Keep track of the "happy moments." Each day has potential for many small moments that bring joy and happiness. If you don't make a special note of them, you may not even recognize the small joys in your day.

    6. Choose one task each night to complete the next day. This way, you have focus, and you accomplish at least one task. Tasking and taxing yourself with effort is important in reaching goals.

    7. Smile when you wake up. Smiling is contagious. By smiling you improve your mood and can potentially improve someone else's day as well.

    8. Give thanks each night. Gratitude will improve your outlook on life and help you see all the good and wonderful moments of your day.

    9. Try something new. A new experience fuels creativity and your enjoyment of the day.

    10. Create at least one memorable moment each day. Make each day unforgettable, even if in a small way!

The Success Indicators on Your Life Path

Many people seek out a particular goal in their life path and are content when they achieve it. The chance to broaden their horizons or learn new things within an existent structure is not as appealing to them as it is to some others. This is an issue that arises in many individuals because they mistakenly think they have achieved what they wanted to in their lives. The plethora of environmental noise around them begins to infringe upon their goals and forces them to lose sight of what they truly wanted.

A good way to think of this problem is to envision a large square box. This is not just any box though. Rather, in this case, your box has been divided into three separate, but equally shaped rectangular boxes, all stacked on top of one another. Each of these rectangular boxes is a highly important expression of your life goals -- individual levels of success. Within each of these levels of success is an indicator that tells you how close you are to becoming successful in this area of your life.

Every area of your life that you identify as a potential path for success can be further divided, containing the many different events and obstacles you will encounter as you strive to reach your goals. Think of each sector of your life as being divided even further, with three new sections within one of the three stacked boxes (sectors). Within each stacked box are three separate sections, divided by dotted lines that make up the life path you will follow. These dotted lines are not the same as the solid lines dividing the sectors -- they are a path that you have envisioned since childhood -- a series of goals and pathways to success that you want to follow.

As young people, these life paths may not be fully formed. Or they might be crystal clear in our minds--long, straight life paths from the early days of college and adult living to the ultimate goal of success that you have always strived for. You can see exactly what you need to do to reach each success indicator and achieve what you have set out to accomplish. And you probably did just this. After all, your goals as a youth were to be successful in the same way that you saw thousands of others live their lives. You wanted to reach your success indicators and experience the measure of success by which you would measure you life for decades to come.

However, nothing is ever as simple as we envision it during youth. There are countless factors that interfere with your ability to clearly see those success indicators and life paths to success. These factors, or "Environmental Noise," can be detrimental to even the most focused of individuals. Think of what would happen if you dumped the contents of downtown New York into your box and tried to maintain your focus on those goals. Would you even be able to see your life path anymore?

Everyone must travel their life path with environmental noise inundating them from all sides. It begins to become cloudy. The dotted lines, our life paths, begin to look like the straight lines and the success indicators start to be confused with any number of different distractions.

And then something will happen and you will realize that you are in fact nowhere near the original success indicators you set for yourself. Everything has changed and yet you are stuck in a way. You are deep within the center of the middle rectangular box and you have no idea which way to go or how to get back on track. The noise only grows louder and you grow dizzy trying to regain your focus.

It is in this instant that you must clear the noise and return to the basic, almost instinctive mode of thought you experienced as a child. What did you want from life? Where did you want to go? What do you need to get to that point? What was my life path? All of these questions must be asked without the distractions of the world around you muddying up your thought process. When you can revert to a very simple perspective of the world and only spend time thinking of what you want from life, you can be that much more successful.

You can succeed in life despite the environmental noise, cruising down your life paths and moving through your rectangles with ease, but oftentimes you need a helping hand to clear away the noise and look at life with fresh eyes. There is nothing wrong with asking for help to weed out these distractions and remove the clutter from your life sectors with a professional life coach.

    Top 10 Benefits to Journaling

    By Bruno Logreco

There are countless reasons to maintaining a journal. The top ten benefits of journaling may differ from person to person. However, there seems to be general themes that are attractive in the collective unconscious. Many people are looking to daily entries of their personal experiences to reap some of the following rewards.

Maintaining a journal is a natural way to exercise the brain. People who make regular entries are taking time to develop writing and communication skills that are very valuable in everyday interactions. This mental exercise also helps to allow your thoughts to flow freely.

Creativity is a second benefit to consider. This is an important aspect of journaling. The right hemisphere of the brain is associated with visual, imaginative and intuitive facets of thought. When you take time to write, you free the right hemisphere. The ideal entry will be one that puts the inner editor on hold. Thoughts and ideas should flow freely and naturally.

The uninhibited nature of this form of writing serves a third benefit of developing self awareness. People often create different faces to meet various circumstances. We tend to recreate in distinct situations including the work environment, the community and even when at home.

The process of keeping a journal helps you recognize the various aspects of your unique personality. The growing self awareness is a powerful force that can lead to even greater benefits in the future. Gaining insight into the self is among the most important aspects to maintaining a journal.

The fourth benefit is the ability to set priorities. Once you get a grasp on the thoughts and emotions that are filtered through your personal experience, you begin to gain control of them. The process eventually leads to a greater understanding of what is and what is not important.

The ability to re-see the past is another great benefit of keeping a journal. The pages can be revisited with a fresh perspective. It can be very surprising how much your understanding of an event changes over a relatively short period of time. Some writers find great moments of epiphany when rethinking and rereading entries.

Journaling is a fantastic problem-solving resource. The approach of using entries to come up with various solutions to troubles is a little different than approaches for self awareness and growth. Many people choose temporary brainstorming techniques that serve to give viable solutions to problems.

The seventh benefit of journaling is variety. You can choose what kind of entries you want to make. Common choices include brainstorming sessions, automatic writing and reflective notes. Personal journal entries can be made upon inspiration, when you first wake or right before you fall asleep. Some choose to do a combination of these.

Purging is the eighth benefit to this practice. Many people find it helpful to place negative thoughts and feelings down on paper. Once the negative energy is placed on the page, they are free to let it go. This practice also works well when dealing with anger towards another individual. Purge the negativity and work towards a constructive approach.

The ability to communicate with others is another benefit of keeping a journal. Those who work with life coaches can find a wealth of resources for sessions. Journaling can help you tap into your fears and dreams, helping your coach gain insight through entries that you choose to share.

The tenth benefit is improvement in your overall health. Journaling reduces stress. It provides time for you to meditate. The process helps to make the positive forces in your life surface and it helps to bring the harmful elements into light. The result of personal journaling is a new perspective on how you can take control of many aspects of your life.
